Taken by her mom Kate Middleton, the photos saw the 2-year-old princess looking adorable in a red wool coat from Amaia Kids, color-coordinated shoes and a bow.

AceShowbiz - Princess Charlotte has officially started her first day of nursery school. On Monday, January 8, Kensington Palace released on its Twitter account two photos of the youngest child of Prince William and Kate Middleton looking adorable in a red coat.

The first portrait, taken by the Duchess of Cambridge herself, saw the 2-year-old princess going down the stairs while holding on to a railing. Charlotte, who will attend Willcocks Nursery School, donned a red wool coat from Amaia Kids which she paired with color-coordinated shoes and a bow. The princess completed her cute look with gray tights, a baby pink scarf and a pink backpack from Cath Kidston.

The other photo, meanwhile, featured the little princess perching on the steps. She had her sweet smile on her face while slightly titling her head.

"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share two photographs of Princess Charlotte at Kensington Palace this morning," the account captioned the snaps. A spokesperson for the royal family added, "The images were taken by The Duchess shortly before Princess Charlotte left for her first day of nursery at the Willcocks Nursery School."

A royal source tells PEOPLE, "They chose that nursery because they thought it would be an ideal first step for Charlotte's education and they were impressed by the team who work there."

Her brother Prince George entered nursery school at the same age as her, back in January 2016. George attended a Montessori school which is near the family's country home, Anmer Hall. Meanwhile, Willcock Nursery School is located near London's Royal Albert Hall and close to Kensington Palace. Unlike Prince Goerge who started his school on a part-time basis, Princess Charlotte reportedly will be attending her school full time.

Willcocks' tuition starts from $4,073 per terms. Three are three terms per year, making the annual tuition around $12,000.
