Artist of the Week: G-Eazy

The Bay Area rapper's latest effort, 'The Beautiful and Damned', receives good reviews from music critics, one of whom describes it as 'compelling' and 'confessional.'

AceShowbiz - After watching his friends' success in the music industry, young G-Eazy believed that he could succeed too by making beats like them. It appeared that what he thought was right. Eazy now has become one of the successful rappers in the hip-hop industry, making a lot of achievement with his music. His latest effort, "The Beautiful & Damned", is no exception.

Talking about the double album, which was released on December 15, Eazy said that the concept of the album is lifestyle. "Like being a kid, having the dream of doing this, starting from squre one, from outside looking in from having nothing to chasing this dream," he shared. "This fantasy of like, sex, drugs and rock and roll is kinda cliched, but it's cliched for a reason. It's dark."

The album debuted at No. 3 on Billboard 200 and received good reviews from music critics. Substream Magazine commented that the album reminded the listeners why "he's one of a kind, but also sharing the lessons learned from having fully realized one's own dream." Billboard, on the other hand, decribed the album as "compelling" and "confessional."

One of the tracks off the album, "No Limit" featuring Cardi B and A$AP Rocky, marked his first top five Hot 100 when it jumped to No. 5 on the chart in late last year. Eazy previously peaked at No. 7 with his 2016 hit "Me, Myself & I" featuring Bebe Rexha.

"No Limit" was not the only hit song off the album. "Him & I", which features his girlfriend Halsey, also jumped eleven places to No. 15 on the chart. It also jumped eight places on Streaming Songs chart, peaking at No. 11.

Eazy is now currently gearing up for his upcoming concert in support of the album. The tour will kick off on February 15 in Houston and wrap up on March 20 in New York.
