Stephen Paddock, who killed at least 59 people during a country music festival on Sunday night, reportedly rented condos overlooking the Life Is Beautiful Festival which took place last September.

AceShowbiz - The gunman who opened fire at the crowd at the Route 91 Harvest Festival on Sunday night, October 1 may have originally targeted another Las Vegas concert. Stephen Paddock, who killed at least 59 people and injured 527 others before killing himself, reportedly rented rooms at the Ogden overlooking the Life Is Beautiful Festival which took place in Las Vegas last September. The concert had Lorde and Chance The Rapper among the headliners.

Quoting a senior law enforcement source who is not directly involved in the investigation, The Daily Beast reports that Paddock "may have lost his nerve or simply changed his plans and checked into the Mandalay Bay Hotel on September 28." A rep for the Ogden, however, refused to confirm if Paddock did rent condos at the luxury condominium tower last month.

Paddock, a 64-year-old multi-millionaire real estate investor from Mesquite, Nevada, checked into the Mandalay Bay Hotel on September 28. He opened fire from his suite on the 32nd floor on 22,000 concertgoers at Las Vegas Village, who were enjoying Jason Aldean's closing performance on the third and final day of the festival.

Police recovered 23 weapons from the suit, including 22 rifles and one handgun. Law enforcement also discovered at least 19 firearms, thousands of rounds of ammunition, and an explosive at his home in Mesquite, Nevada. The bomb-making chemical ammonium nitrate was also found in his car. His motive remains unclear and the FBI did not find any connection with an international terrorist group.

The tragedy has been dubbed the worst mass shooting in U.S. history. In the wake of the mass shooting, many celebrities have sent prayers to the victims and the city, and some of them have called for gun control. Jason Aldean and Jennifer Lopez, meanwhile, have canceled their upcoming shows out of respect for the victims and the families affected by the tragic incident.
