Lady GaGa Leads Moment of Meditation, Taylor Swift and Others React After Las Vegas Shooting


GaGa holds a moment of meditation on Instagram Live to help her followers amid the Las Vegas massacre, while Swift, Justin Bieber, Rihanna and more send their prayers to the victims and families.
Another mass shooting rocked the U.S. on Sunday night, October 1. A shooter opened fire at the Route 91 Harvest Festival at Mandala Bay in Las Vegas late Sunday night, killing at least 50 people and injuring more than 400 people. The tragedy has been dubbed the worst mass shooting in U.S. history.

Following the tragedy, Lady GaGa led a moment of meditation on Instagram Live on Monday. She invited her fans and followers to join her in a 20-minute moment of meditation, in order to help them amid the Las Vegas massacre.

"4 anyone who'd like to join, I'm doing a 20 minute moment of meditation/silence/prayer on my Instagram Live for calming of the [hearts] @ 3:30 PST," she first posted along with a photo of her tattoo peace symbol. "My intention is to provide a forum for us all connect to around the world, as a calling for world peace and inner peace."

She continued, "We are one body, I believe we can calm inflammation in the earth by calming each other. #meditation #prayer #silence. If you choose to meditate with me I will explain how meditation is important in my life and how I will be doing I practice it before we get started. See you then. It will be very helpful to be in a quiet dark space, but anywhere is fine as long as we're together."



"Here are some 'mantras' I will be using," she explained. "If you choose to meditate with me I will explain how I use them. I usually alternate between two and find them very effective for calming down my nervous system. Otherwise silence and prayer are all welcome. This is time for you and us to come together in unity and peace."



GaGa also condemned the act and made her stance clear in gun control debate, tweeting, "This is terrorism plain and simple. Terror bares no race, gender or religion. Democrats & Republicans please unite now #guncontrol." She added, "Prayers are important but @SpeakerRyan @realDonaldTrump blood is on the hands of those who have power to legislate. #GunControl act quickly."





Meanwhile, the likes of Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Rihanna and many others took to social media to send their support for the victims and their families. "There are no words to express the helplessness and sorrow my broken heart feels for the victims in Vegas and their families," Swift tweeted.



Bieber simply posted, "Praying for Las Vegas," and added in another post, "Praying for all those in pain."





Rihanna pledged the same, "Saying a prayer for all the victims & their loved ones, also for the residents & visitors of Las Vegas! This was a horrific act of terror!!"



Harry Styles reacted, "Woke up to the heartbreaking news from Las Vegas, my thoughts are with everyone and their families. Love. H."



Lorde wrote, "f**k. feel sick for the victims of las vegas and their families. i'm so sorry."



John Legend added, "The news from Las Vegas is heartbreaking. Devastating."



Ellen DeGeneres expressed her feelings as writing, "It’s unimaginable. And yet it's real. I don't know where to begin. Watching, crying, and sending love."



Ariana Grande tweeted, "sending as much love and healing energy as humanly possible out into the world tonight." She also called for gun control as writing, "My heart is breaking for Las Vegas. We need love, unity, peace, gun control & for people to look at this & call this what it is = terrorism."
