"No, not even a single penny. Some people are treating this as if there was money involved," she revealed. The mother said, "Francia Raisa is an adult already, and she makes her own choices. She told me about it, and of course, at first, I was worried, but then she said that she had been thoroughly informed about everything and that she was going to do it. All I could do was support her."

she went on, "People need to know that you can live with one kidney, there are a lot of individuals that get scared to donate to people that need it because they're afraid of never again living a normal life. But there is no danger."

In fact, Francia's back to work already. "She's actually filming a TV show that's called Grown-ish, and she's just going about her normal life," her mother explained. "She(Gomez) is well, too. Thank God they're both doing great. Thankfully the kidney was compatible and that everything came out perfectly."

Virginia revealed that Francia and Selena stayed in a same house during their recovery. "Because of my job, I didn't have a lot of time but they were there, and I would go one to two times a week," she opened up, adding that they had "separate rooms" and "had their nurses there to take care of them."

"They've been friends for many years. They're like sisters," she said. "I love her (Gomez) a lot, too. She loves me a lot. She says I'm her mom. I'm very proud of both of them."

After the surgery, "the love between them has really grown." She explained, "Selena is a great girl, and she also has a big heart, as does Francia. I'm very proud of both of them. Francia has a huge heart because not anyone would just let go of one of their organs to give it to someone else."

Selena Gomez took it to Instagram to thank her friend for her generosity. "There aren't words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa," she wrote. "She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis." Francia responded on her own page, "Love you sis, so glad we're on this journey together."

Both included a link to Lupus Research Alliance for fans to donate. Following Selena's kidney transplant, the organization announced Selena helped raise $500,000 in donations. "Selena has supported our organization in many ways, donating a portion of tickets sales for her last concert tour to the Lupus Research Alliance and requesting donations to us on the occasion of her birthday, as well as yesterday's announcement," the CEO Kenneth M. Farber said in a statement.
