Internet Roasts Amber Rose for Saying That Philly Girls 'Aren't Traditionally Attractive'
Celebrity

During an interview, the former Philadelphia stripped claimed that being 'blessed with beauty' while coming from a 'very poor neighborhood' was like 'a blessing and a curse.'

AceShowbiz - Amber Rose was caught up in another controversy. The model landed in hot water after she publicly said that people from South Philly, where she was born and raised, weren't "traditionally attractive" in a recent interview on Revolt's "Drink Champs" podcast.

"I don't know how I can say this without sounding, like, f**ked up, but a lot of the people where I'm from aren't traditionally attractive people," Rose, who grew up in Broad and Ellsworth, told host and rapper N.O.R.E. during her appearance. The 33-year-old beauty added that growing in "very poor neighborhood" was "very difficult" for her as she was "blessed with beauty," dubbing her beauty both "a blessing and a curse."

She went on saying that people refused to believe when she told them that she was from Broad and Ellsworth. "And when I would be on a bus and they are like, 'Where are you from?' And I'm like, 'I'm from Broad and Ellsworth,' and they are like, 'Nah! You're not like from there.' " The former Philadelphia stripper continued, "I never felt like I belonged there. I always felt way bigger than the city was."

Surely, Twitter users had something to say about her statement. @mspennyisaac took a jab at the girlfriend of 21 Savage by writing, "Timeout. So Amber Rose wants men to stop being shallow and slut shaming but she referred to herself as the only beautiful girl in Philly?" @linnychoos similarly slammed Amber, "amber rose saying a lot of philly chicks aren't attractive... idk who she's been bumping into, but i know TONS of pretty girls from the 215."

Another user sarcastically snarked, "how does amber rose call herself a 'feminist' & says she wants to empower women then turns around & calls women ugly." Meanwhile, @di_m_ex posted a slew of Amber's childhoods photos and captioned them, "This was not a smart business move on amber rose part Philly is so messy she not gone live this down."

"What Amber Rose said shows how she feels about people in predominately black areas.Having lighter skin doesn't make you beautiful. Be humble," wrote @LunarShow1. @Fat_Rell, meanwhile, hilariously compared the situation when the actress came to Philly to a "Battle of the Bastards" scene on "Game of Thrones", in which Jon Snow was facing a thousand of horses sent by Ramsay Bolton.

In response to the backlash, Amber took to her Instagram account to backtrack on her comments. "I know that people, like, really warn me as superficial b***h. And I'm just not that person. I find beauty in everyone. I feel that everyone is beautiful," she said in a series of Instagram Story videos. "Unfortunately, it's not easy to do interview, like, always saying things the way you really wanna articulate. It's like kinda when you send a text message to someone and they're like 'Why do you have an attitude?' and you're like, 'I don't have an attitude.' "
