"Toy Story 4" has undergone a director change. The upcoming fourth installment of the "Toy Story" was originally directed by John Lasseter who also helmed the first two installments of the franchise, but he decided to step down. He will still be involved in the project as an executive producer.
Lasseter, who is also Pixar's chief creative officer, broke the news during Disney's D23 Expo on Friday, July 14 in Anaheim, California. He announced Josh Cooley as his replacement. Cooley is no stranger to working on animated movies. His credits include "The Incredibles", "Cars", "Up" and "Inside Out".
The next adventure of Woody and co. is coming out in theaters across the country on June 21, 2019. Cooley said the movie could take place during a family vacation. The details are still scarce, but previous rumor suggested it could explore the relationship between Woody & Bo Peep and reveal the reason behind her absence in the third installment.
A Toy Story-themed trailer for "Kingdom Heart 3" was also released at the event.
