Amid the actor's confession that his alcohol addiction put a strain on his relationship with his family, new details about the then-couple's argument during the flight emerge.
According to Us Weekly, Pitt "was drinking heavily" over the course of a 12-hour journey from Nice, France to Los Angeles on September 14, 2016. About an hour before touching down at Minnesota's Falls International Airport to refuel, a frustrated Jolie reportedly asked her husband to "sober up."
It was reported before that workers at Minnesota Falls airport could hear arguing from the plane before the doors opened. "The arguing spilled out onto the tarmac," said MyTalk 107.1 host Colleen Lindstrom back in September. "At which point, Brad Pitt relieved himself on the tarmac." Pitt reportedly drove around the tarmac in a fuel truck and at one point, he "backed up and crashed into another airport vehicle."
Once they got back in the jet, things got worse and that's when Maddox intervened his parents' argument. A source tells Us as the plane came in for a landing, Jolie texted a travel coordinator to hire extra cars to ferry her and their six children to a hotel in an attempt to diffuse the situation with Pitt. "She said they could talk about everything in the morning," the so-called insider adds.
But once they touched down in L.A., the kids "piled into the cars Angie pointed them to and locked the doors," while Pitt took a separate vehicle and traveled to an undisclosed location without his family, the source claims.
The site additionally notes that Jolie had planned to end her marriage to Pitt months prior to the fight on the plane.
