Miley Cyrus' fans are up for a treat next Thursday, May 11, as the 24-year-old singer will release a new single titled "Malibu" that day. The track will serve as the lead single off Miley's upcoming album which is set to arrive later this year. The pop star claims that the new song is "unlike anything she has recorded before."

In her Billboard cover story, the former Disney star hints that the song would be about her fiance Liam Hemsworth. "I never would've believed you if three years ago you told me I'd be here writing this song," she sings. "But here I am, next to you, the sky so blue, in Malibu."

Miley also reveals that she wrote the single on the way to filming "The Voice". "I drive myself everywhere, but that day I decided to Uber," she says. "I was trying to not to sing out loud because someone else was in the car."

Miley and Liam previously ended their engagement back in 2013 before rekindling their romance in 2016. The songstress admits that she and Liam need to "refall for each other." She explains, "I needed to change so much. And changing with someone else not changing like that is too hard. Suddenly you're like, 'I don't recognize you anymore.' We had to refall for each other."
