AceShowbiz - %cMaksim Chmerkovskiy% and his fiance %cPeta Murgatroyd% are safe after an intruder attempted to break into their house on April 25. Maksim's "Dancing with the Stars" partner %cHeather Morris% showed up on "Good Morning America" on April 26 without him and explained what happened to her partner that forced him to cancel his appearance.
"They had some sort of run in with some man near their house trying to break in, but the police were there," Heather explained. "They took care of it. So they're safe and Peta's okay. That's the most important thing."
Maksim later guested on SiriusXM's "Conversation with %cMaria Menounos%" and shared the details about the incident. "At like 2:20 I wake up, this loud knocking I come down there's cops. They say there's a dude outside claiming this is his house. Wait what?! So yeah it was pretty wild. I guess it's an ongoing thing with the ex-owner of this house," he said. The intruder turned out to be a former rock singer who was "completely out of his mind."
The incident caused Maksim to stay at home because he felt that he needed to protect his family. "It was just funny to me. It was 2:30 in the morning I couldn't understand what's happening and then I had to get into the car do the satellite," he recalled. "I called Heather I was like, 'Babe, I'm sorry I just can't, I don't know how to leave the house.' It's my mom, Peta, our nurse and a baby. It's like three chicks, half a human and me."
The ballroom dancer also opened up about Heather's shocking elimination. The "Glee" alum got voted off the show after earning the first perfect score of the season. "I just hope that Heather's elimination isn't going to be, like, sort of shoved under the rug," Maksim said. "She is an uber-talented person. I just wish that we got to show it."
"Dancing with the Stars" airs every Monday at 8 P.M. ET on ABC.
