Dolph Lundgren has been added to the cast of upcoming DC film "Aquaman". The veteran Swedish actor is joining Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe and Patrick Wilson in the superhero movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lundgren will play King Nereus, the leader of aquatic kingdom of Xebel. He claims Mera (Heard) as his own and wants to kill Aquaman (Momoa).

James Wan's "Aquaman" follows the story of Arthur Curry, a half-man and half-Atlantean who leads Atlantic Ocean and tries to gain his glory. Enters his half brother, Orm (Wilson), who is as powerful and creating a hindrance that puts everything in havoc. Aquaman is obliged to prevent his evil half-brother from snatching his empire of high seas.

Kidman will play Aquaman's mother Atlanna in the movie, while Dafoe will portray Nuidis Vulko. Other cast members include Temuera Morrison as Aquaman's father Thomas Curry and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta.

Lundgren first appeared in James Bond movie "A View to Kill" in 1985. He played Soviet boxer Drago in 1985's "Rocky IV" and portraying He-Man in 1987's "Masters of the Universe". In 1989's "The Punisher", Lundgren played antihero Frank Castle. Lundgren was recently seen on "Arrow" as Konstantin Kovar and will star alongside Jean-Claude Van Damme in "Black Water".

"Aquaman" is set to hit U.S. theaters on December 21, 2018.
