The 'Glee' alum reveals late boyfriend Cory Monteith as one of the inspirations for her upcoming album.

AceShowbiz - After teasing on Instagram about her new project over the past week, Lea Michele finally unveils that the upcoming project will be an album. On January 26, Michele took to Twitter to announce her new album titled "Places".

She posted a simple photo of the album's title on a plain black background, with a grayed-out reflection of the six letters beneath the writing. "New album coming soon," so read another line in the image. Michele didn't reveal the release date or number of songs in the picture. She didn't even write any caption.

In a new interview with Billboard, Michele opened up about her upcoming album. "This is a vocal album, and there are definitely love songs in there, but there's also a sense of freedom. I went back and listened to all of the divas that I loved, and tried to find how that music resonates for me, in 2017," Michele explained about her album.

She also revealed the inspirations for making the album including the death of her boyfriend and "Glee" co-star Cory Monteith. "And it was also clouded by a big tragedy that had happened to me, in the midst of making that album," Michelle said. "And you hear that in that album-- you hear the darkness of what was going on in my life. I don't think there is a consistency to the record that I was hoping for, but that's life."

Michele also talked about her involvement in the creative process of "Places". The "Scream Queens" actress claimed that her upcoming album would be more personal than her previous album "Louder" since she had spent all of her time for the album despite her busy schedules. She even added, "F**k it if people don't like it."

Michele has been teasing her upcoming album since last week on Instagram. She posted various pictures of her with polaroid frame and wrote the places where the photos were taken on it. Michele chose "Places" as the title of her new album to reminisce her Broadway days before hitting fame with "Glee". She explained that she got the title from Broadway pal Jonathan Groff's suggestion. "What about 'Places'?" Michele impersonated Groff during the interview. "When you're on Broadway, you get your 30-minute call, then your 15-minute call. You hear 'Places everyone!' And that means it's showtime."
