AceShowbiz - A new trailer for biopic "I Am Michael" has been released for fans' viewing pleasure. The approximately two-minute video features James Franco as the title character, a gay activist who is "saved" from his homosexuality after turning to God.
The newly-released trailer opens with a shirtless Michael cuddling and kissing with his boyfriend Bennett, a young architect who is portrayed by Zachary Quinto. One scene shows him telling his lover that he needs to get away "from being gay."
There is also a glimpse of Emma Roberts' Rebekah Fuller, a young Christian woman whom Michael falls in love with after his "conversion." "Are you still attracted to men?" she asks. "It's in the past," he responds. "We're always changing," he says at the end of the trailer. "And I'm open to that."
"I Am Michael" is coming to select U.S. theaters on January 27, 2017. It's about a real-life anti-gay pastor named Michael Glatze who was once gay himself. Justin Kelly directed the movie based on Benoit Denizet-Lewis' New York Times Magazine article "My Ex-Gay Friend".
