Will Batman Appear on 'Supergirl'? EP Addresses Gotham Reference in Season 2 Premiere
TV

Executive producer Ali Adler answers that burning question if the Gotham City reference means the Dark Knight will appear on The CW's series.

AceShowbiz -

As fans noticed in the recent trailer for "Supergirl" season 2, an apparent new resident of National City says, "We're moving back to Gotham," following an explosion in the city. While it was probably just a throwaway line, we couldn't help being excited thinking about a possible tie between two of beloved DC superheroes, Supergirl and Batman.

Addressing this Gotham City reference, executive producer Ali Adler tells TVLine, "We have this beautiful history with DC, and I like that we get to borrow from this amazing, wonderful canon that we have."

However, don't expect The Caped Crusader to come to National City anytime soon. "I feel like we have our hands full with the crossover we're shooting right now," Adler says, referring to the four-way crossover with "Arrow", "The Flash" and "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" which was recently teased by Stephen Amell. "I think people will be satisfied with how much crossover they're getting this season," he teases.

While Batman may not appear on "Supergirl" in the near future, at least one character from Batman comic books will. Maggie Sawyer (Floriana Lima), a lesbian cop added for season 2 of The CW's series, is a love interest of Batwoman in DC Comics lore.

"Supergirl" season 2 will kick off Monday, October 10 at 8 P.M., featuring the debut appearance of Tyler Hoechlin's Superman. The Man of Steel and his cousin will join forces to fight against Mon-El (Chris Wood), who arrived in a Kryptonian rocket at the end of season one, and villain Metallo (Frederick Schmidt).
