Kelly Clarkson's big announcement has finally been unveiled. After spending days teasing the big news, the "American Idol" alum revealed via a Facebook Live session on Friday, June 24 that she had signed a new record deal with Atlantic Records.

Clarkson had been working with Sony Music's RCA Records since she won the very first season of the singing competition back in 2002. In their 14-year-relationship, the singer publicly feuded with Sony Music's head Clive Davis in 2007 over the direction of her album "My December". Most recently, she claimed the label forced her to collaborate with Dr. Luke whom Kesha, formerly Ke$ha, has accused of raping her.

In a statement, Clarkson likened her signing to the label to "an arranged marriage" which "sometimes worked out and sometimes resulted in the hardest experiences of my life." She then expressed excitement to join Atlantic.

"They love every part of my personality as far as, like, all my colors," she said of her new record label. "I love the country side of me, and I love the Broadway side of me, and I love the pop side of me and the soulful side of me, and they are down to make really whatever record I'm into, which is real rare, so I'm super-excited about it."

Clarkson's first project for Atlantic will be a soul-and-R&B-inspired album that she has started working on and is due out in 2017. "We have already started creating a record that I have been wanting to make since I was a little girl, and a record that fans have been asking me to make for years. Here's to the future!" she explained.

Before fans hear anything from the project, Clarkson posted on her new website KellyClarksonLive.com four videos of her covering four different songs requested by her fans. The tracks include Coldplay's "Fix You", Radiohead's "Creep", Etta James' "I'd Rather Go Blind" and India.Arie's "Ready for Love".
