Beyonce Knowles is being sued over her new album, "Lemonade". An independent filmmaker named Matthew Fulks has filed a lawsuit against the singer and her record label, claiming that the trailer of her latest studio effort is a rip-off of his film titled "Palinoia".

In the suit filed in New York and obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, Fulks says that nine visual elements in 39 seconds of the 60-second trailer are from his short film. Those elements include "graffiti and persons with heads down," "red persons with eyes obscured," "parking garage," "title card screens" and "the grass scene."

He explains in his complaints how Beyonce's team might have found out about "Palinoia". He says he was once contacted about an opportunity to direct a video for a music group that's signed to Columbia Records, Bey's label. Links to the film were then sent to several people at the company, including Bryan Younce who's credited on Bey's 2013 self-titled album.

Fulks, who's also a creative director at a Louisville, Kentucky-based news station, is now demanding all profits attributed to exploitation of his work, including from sales of "Lemonade". Neither Beyonce nor her team has responded to the news.

"Lemonade" marks Bey's sixth solo album. A 60-minute film aired on HBO before the record was released back in April. The trailer came out a week after.
