J.K. Simmons Gets Pumped for 'Justice League'
Movie

The 'Whiplash' actor is working out with a Marine-turned-trainer to build impressive muscles for his role in the upcoming DC movie.

J.K. Simmons is putting on some serious muscles in preparation for his upcoming turn as the police chief of Gotham in "Justice League". Aaron Williamson, a former Marine and competitive bodybuilder who becomes Simmons' personal trainer, revealed the actor's transformation in a photo he posted on Instagram on June 3.

In the photo, Simmons can be seen working out in a gym. Lifting weights and using an arm-blaster, he showed off his impressive physique. "Every time we train together I forget he's 61 years old. So much respect for this guy," Williamson captioned the picture, adding the hashtags #JKSimmons and #OldmanCranking.

The bodybuilder trainer, who is also a personal trainer to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and James Marsden, explained that the "Dark Skies" actor's training motivation was to keep himself healthy. "His goal was to have 'sick arms,' " the trainer explained in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Later, Simmons started to fall in love with fitness.

"Where I come into play is now that he's at this point we are giving him muscles he didn't have before. His motivating factor with a lot of it is to do something with his arms and shoulders to be able to possibly down the road play a character who can wear a tank-top," the trainer said.

"In that one picture that's going viral, we're using an arm-blaster. That piece of metal behind his arms pushes up on your triceps so it's going to puff your arms up. But you'll see another picture of my Instagram where he's doing a fly. His arms are not as big in that one - but they are completely shredded," Williamson explained the actor's transformation.
