George Miller previously revealed how tiring it was to film "Mad Max: Fury Road" and recently he made it clear that he wouldn't direct its sequel "Mad Max: The Wasteland". The Australian director said, "I won't make more 'Mad Max' movies."

" 'Fury Road' with Charlize Theron, Zoe Kravitz, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Riley Keough was forever getting completed," Miller added. "If you finish one in a year, it's considered a leap of faith. Start, stop, start again."

Of why he turned down a chance to direct the follow-up movie, Miller said, "I've shot in Australia in a field of wild flowers and flat red earth when it rained heavily forever. We had to wait 18 months and every return to the U.S. was 27 hours. Those 'Mad Maxes' take forever. I won't do those anymore."

Last October, Miller said similar things about the struggle of filming the action flick. "We shot 'Fury Road' for eight months... that's a lot. Every day in the heat and the dust, doing these stunts, it's very wearing. We've got two more planned, but at some point in the future," he said.

Miller's recent comment about stepping away from the director's chair was surprising given that he dished on the sequel earlier this month. Talking to Entertainment Weekly, the 70-year-old director suggested that Theron's Imperator Furiosa was a "pretty compelling character" and would make a great subject for a "Mad Max" spin-off.
