A band of superheros assemble in the first picture from the next "Arrow" / "The Flash" crossover event. Besides the familiar faces like Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), Barry Allen (Grant Gustin), Thea Queen (Willa Holland), Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) and John Diggle (David Ramsey), there are two new faces.

They are Hawkman a.k.a. Carter Hall, played by Falk Hentschel, and Hawkgirl a.k.a. Kendra Saunders, portrayed by Ciara Renee, who were first revealed in a picture released in September. Both characters will be featured in an upcoming spin-off, "DC's Legends of Tomorrow".

Little is known about the upcoming crossover, but Stephen Amell once said that unlike the previous crossover episode which could be enjoyed independent of one another, this time "most of the 'Flash' episode takes place in Star City, and most of the 'Arrow' episode takes place in Central City. We have a common villain, which was not the case last year, and just in general, we've done an excellent job of weaving not just two shows, but three shows together."

"Arrow" and "The Flash" executive producer Andrew Kreisberg also explained, " 'The Flash' episode this year plays more like an episode of 'Arrow' and the 'Arrow' episode plays more like an episode of 'Flash'. We look back and thought that those 'Flash' and 'Arrow' episodes were the biggest things we'd ever done. Now we have more heroes, more people with powers, more mouths to feed and bigger villains. It's really exciting."

The new "Arrow" / "The Flash" crossover will air the first week of December on The CW.
