Jennifer Hudson and Shakira performed in front of Pope Francis during his visit to New York. The former took the stage before a mass at Madison Square Garden on Friday, September 25 while the latter sang during the Pope's visit to the United Nations.
"American Idol" alum Hudson, who looked elegant in a Prabal Gurung blue gown with a long cape, belted out the classic song "Hallelujah". She gushed on Instagram, "U can't put limits on God! It was such an honor to sing for pope Francis mass, on this evening!"
Another performer at the event was Harry Connick Jr. The "Idol" judge tweeted, "How honored i was to be asked to perform for him! #PopeInNYC. I'll never forget this night! singing 'how great Thou art' for @Pontifex at #PopeInNYC #honor."
Shakira, meanwhile, took the mic at the UN's General Assembly 2015. Wearing a Reem Acra gown, she delivered a rendition of John Lennon's classic "Imagine". She wrote on Twitter, "dedicates her performance to Aylan and Galip Kurdi and all the child refugees."
