Jennifer Hudson, who has released a new holiday album, 'The Gift of Love', talks about her status while acknowledging Mariah Carey's undisputed status as the 'Christmas Queen.'

AceShowbiz - Jennifer Hudson has added to the merriments of the season with the release of her new holiday album, "The Gift of Love". In an interview with PEOPLE, the multi-talented artist celebrated her latest musical offering while acknowledging the reigning queen of Christmas.

"I think Mariah is the Queen of Christmas, and I'm the Princess of Christmas," Hudson declared with a touch of self-proclaimed royalty. "At least, I named myself."

Hudson's "The Gift of Love" presents a musical journey through familiar classics like "The Christmas Song" and "Winter Wonderland", alongside an original tune titled "Almost Christmas" featuring Common. The album also features collaborations with The Joy, Ryan Tedder, Kirk Franklin, David Foster and Peer Astrom.

When asked about her favorite holiday song, Hudson shared, "I look at [the album] as a Christmas tree full of different songs." But ultimately, "O Holy Night" holds the top spot in her heart, inspiring her to create the entire album.

Meanwhile, the undisputed queen of Christmas, Mariah Carey, recently shared a humorous video expressing her playful resistance to the early embrace of the holiday spirit. In the video, Carey jokes about being prematurely summoned to the North Pole while onboard a plane.

Hudson's third studio album, "JHUD", was released in 2014, and she previously dabbled in holiday music with the single "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)". Carey, on the other hand, is preparing for a festive Christmas tour that was announced earlier this year.
