The 25-year-old actress joins husband Dax Shepard and Michael Pena in the reboot of 80s cop drama of the same name.

AceShowbiz - "CHiPs", a reboot of 80s cop drama of the same name, has just expanded its cast as Kristen Bell has signed on for the film. According to TheWrap, Bell will join her husband, Dax Shepard, who will direct and star in the movie.
Bell and Shephard join the star-studded cast which also include Michael Pena, Adam Brody, Kristen Bell and Rosa Salazar as well as Vincent D'Onofrio who is reported to play a villain. Shepard takes over the role of officer Jon Baker, while Pena is on board to play Frank "Ponch" Poncherello, a role originated by Erik Estrada. However, there is no word yet on what kind of role Bell will play.
Besides acting and directing, Shepard writes the script. Andrew Panay will produce the movie which follows the two California Highway Patrol officers who are responsible to pull over speeders and car thieves, help stranded motorists and investigate crimes. The action comedy movie is expected to arrive in the U.S. in 2016.
Bell has been busy working on "House of Lies", which will air its fifth season in April 2016, and she just finished filming "The Boss", a comedy starring Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone.
