MTV VMAs 2015: Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift Make Surprise Collaboration

They had a Twitter feud this past summer but buried the bad blood at the opening performance of 2015 MTV Video Music Awards.

Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift put aside their differences at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards. They made a surprise performance on Sunday, August 30 night as the opening acts, singing a little bit of both's hits.

Minaj was the first to appear on stage to sing "Trini Dem Girls" solo before Swift showed up from backstage in sparkling red dress to join her in "The Night Is Still Young". The set was closed with a short portion of Swift's "Bad Blood".

The two had a Twitter feud earlier this summer when Minaj was snubbed by VMAs from Video of the Year category while Swift was included for "Bad Blood". "If I was a different 'kind' of artist, 'Anaconda' would be nominated for best choreo and vid of the year as well," Minaj wrote on Twitter. "When the 'other' girls drop a video that breaks records and impacts culture they get that nomination ... If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year."

Minaj also tweeted, "Black women influence pop culture so much but are rarely rewarded for it." Apparently Swift took it personally by tweeting back, "@NICKIMINAJ I've done nothing but love & support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot." Minaj later apologized to Swift and said she was not aiming for the country singer. The rapper then handed out invitation to have Swift on stage with her if she won.

Swift did win Best Female Video while Minaj took home Best Hip-Hop Video at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards.
