Julian Bunetta said the boys had a feeling that the upcoming fifth album would be their last for a while.

It was not a rush of decision, One Direction producer said about the group's break. Songwriter Julian Bunetta, who was behind the band's many hits, said the four members knew they were going to take a hiatus after recording the upcoming fifth album.

"There was a feeling of, 'Well, we're going to take a break, and anything in the world can happen during that time off'," Bunetta told Billboard. "It's the first time of there being some uncertainty, of not having things planned out beforehand, since they were 16 years old. There was definitely a vibe of making [the album] the best it can possibly be, and knowing it has to last as long as it needs to until we make another record - if we make another record."

The boys reportedly gathered in London earlier this month to discuss the break. Harry Styles and his bandmates allegedly had a mutual agreement to focus on solo projects. Both Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson had confirmed the break, followed by Liam Payne who tweeted, "So glad everything has been cleared up today and ur support with it is amazing not that we could ever expect anything less your amazing."

Payne added, "Can't wait to put more time into everything we do and coming out with something great. Thank you so much for everything you have done for us it's been the most amazing five years and there's so much more to come."

One Direction's fifth yet-titled studio album will be released this fall. "There's a song about losing someone that isn't Zayn [Malik]," Bunetta revealed what to expect from the effort. "There's also a song about the band being on shaky ground and not knowing what the future is. There are songs about love, there's a song that is a little more sexually charged. It's all over the map."
