It's been years since MGM planned to give another big-screen treatment for "Tomb Raider". The movie doesn't seem to take any big step as there is no director attached to the project just yet. Recently, Heroic Hollywood reported that Warner Bros. and MGM were seeking a "Michelle MacLaren type" helmer to direct the untitled Tomb Raider reboot.
Although the studios are searching for a director like MacLaren, it seems like MacLaren herself is an unlikely candidate to helm the project. In April, she left Warner Bros.' "Wonder Woman" over creative differences and was replaced by on Patty Jenkins.
Despite the rumor which says that the studios eye a female director, Joseph Kosinski was reportedly in early talks to direct the "Tomb Raider" reboot. However, there is no official confirmation from the studios regarding the rumor.
Evan Daugherty is set to write the script for the reboot of the video game adaptation while Graham King is tapped as producer. Daugherty was previously attached to some famous projects such as "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, "Divergent", "Snow White and the Huntsman" and "G.I. Joe 3".
The new "Tomb Raider" will reportedly focus on Lara Croft's early years as an adventurer. There is no official release date as of now, but it is said to arrive in 2017.
