Josh Groban's performance was one of the highlights of the 2015 Tony Awards on Sunday, June 7. The singer took the stage at Radio City Music Hall in New York City to deliver an emotional rendition of "You'll Never Walk Alone" from "Carousel" during the "In Memoriam" segment.
Groban kicked off his set alone, singing the track alongside a pianist and some violinists while the big screen behind him flashed the pictures of actors and actresses who passed away in the past year. Among those remembered were Joan Rivers, Robin Williams, Lauren Bacall, Anne Meara, Polly Bergen, Ruby Dee, James Garner, Leonard Nimoy, Elaine Stritch and Eli Wallach.
Towards the end of the song, a massive choir of more than 175 Broadway stars who also performed at the Sunday awards-giving show joined Groban on the stage while still wearing their costumes.
This year's Tony Awards, broadcast on CBS, was hosted by Alan Cumming and Kristin Chenoweth. Other performers at the star-studded event included Vanessa Hudgens and fellow cast members of "Gigi" who played "The Night They Invented Champagne", Matthew Morrison and Kelsey Grammer who did "Stronger" from "Finding Neverland" and the "Jersey Boys" cast who closed out the festivity with "Oh What a Night". The latter's performance honored 10 years of the show on Broadway.
