Nicki Minaj Joins 'Barbershop 3'

The 'Anaconda' hitmaker will star as Draya, a hairdresser at the barbershop.

AceShowbiz - Nicki Minaj has been added into the cast of upcoming New Line/MGM movie "Barbershop 3". According to Variety, the "Bang Bang" rapper will star as Draya, "the sassy new hairdresser of the beauty shop portion of the barbershop."

It has been announced that some original cast members including Ice Cube, Cedric the Entertainer, Anthony Anderson and Eve will be reprising their respective roles in the project. Nicki joins a group of newcomers which includes Common and Regina Hall.

"Barbershop 3" will be directed by Malcolm D. Lee with a script from Kenya Barris and Tracy Oliver. State Street Pictures' Bob Teitel and George Tillman Jr. will serve as the lead producers.

The original 2002 movie starring Ice and Anthony was directed by Tim Story, while the 2004 sequel "Barbershop 2: Back in Business" was helmed by Kevin Rodney Sullivan. Both films collected a total of around $140 million in worldwide box office.

Nicki made her movie debut in 2012, lending her voice for "Ice Age: Continental Drift" alongside Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Drake, Jennifer Lopez and Queen Latifah. In 2014, she starred as Cameron Diaz's assistant Lydia in romantic-comedy flick "The Other Woman (2014)".
