Common Enlists in 'Suicide Squad'

The rapper is cast for the supervillains movie in an unidentified role, joining Margot Robbie and Jared Leto among other actors.

AceShowbiz - Common, who was born Lonnie Lynn, has joined the cast of David Ayer's "Suicide Squad". According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor has closed a deal to join the cast but his role is still undisclosed.

Common will take part in the movie alongside Jared Leto as The Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress. Jesse Eisenberg and Ben Affleck may make cameo appearances as Lex Luthor and Batman in the film, but that's not confirmed yet.

Based on DC comic, the story centers on imprisoned villains recruited by a government agency to perform black operations in exchange for clemency. The film is already shooting in Toronto and is scheduled for an August 5, 2016 release in the U.S.

Common won the Academy Award for the song he contributed for "Selma". The rapper is set to star in Martin Campbell's "Hunter Killer"
