The songstress, who plays a pop star named Jade St. John on 'Nashville', will perform the ballad in the show's Wednesday, April 22 episode.

AceShowbiz - Days after performing it live for the first time during the 2015 Academy of Country Music Awards, Christina Aguilera released the studio version of "Shotgun" on Tuesday, April 21. It's the second song she's recorded for the "Nashville" soundtrack, following last week's "The Real Thing".

Unlike the upbeat, rock-tinged "The Real Thing", the new song is a slow-tempo ballad on which she's accompanied only by simple acoustic guitar licks. "It's a hard road, honey/ And there ain't nobody I'd rather be next to/ It's a rough ride, baby, but we're gonna make it together," she sings the chorus. "Me and you/ When you're tired, I'll grab the wheel/ And you take over when I'm done/ Love is taking turns/ Riding shotgun."

Aguilera makes a guest starring appearance on "Nashville", playing a pop star named Jade St. John. She'll perform "Shotgun" in the Wednesday, April 22 episode of the ABC series.

The 34-year-old songbird is currently also serving as a coach on "The Voice" while readying her new album. There's still no word on when the follow-up to her 2012 effort "Lotus" will arrive.
