As Zayn Malik's relationship with his fiancee Perrie Edwards comes under scrutiny after his cheating rumors, news broke out that his bandmate Louis Tomlinson split from his girlfriend Eleanor Calder. Tomlinson broke up with his longtime girlfriend earlier this month due to his hectic schedule.

"Louis and Eleanor split up two weeks ago," a representative said. "They have not announced this as they wanted some privacy during this time." A friend additionally told PEOPLE, "They tried really hard to make it work but it was just impossible, he's away for nine months a year and they just grew apart."

One Direction is currently finishing the Asian leg of their tour. Zayn Malik decided to quit the tour due to "stress" and returned to U.K. after he was spotted holding hands with a blonde girl outside a nightclub in Phuket, Thailand. He took it to Twitter to deny suggestion that he had an affair with the girl.

Louis Tomlinson, meanwhile, hasn't commented on his breakup. He had dated Eleanor Calder for four years after being introduced by Harry Styles. Calder served as the maid of honor when Tomlinson's mother got married last year, and he attended her graduation at Manchester University last summer.
