Bristol Palin, 24, announces that she is officially engaged. The oldest daughter of former Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin is set to marry 26-year-old Sgt. Dakota Meyer, a former marine who becomes the third living recipient of U.S. Medal of Honor since Vietnam.

"I'm definitely the luckiest guy ever to be able to spend the rest of my life with @bsmp2 #shesaidyes," Meyer said on Instagram. His bride-to-be also gushed on her own page, "Truly the luckiest girl in the world, cannot wait to marry this man!!!!"

"He's wonderful with Tripp," she added on her blog, referring to her son with ex Levi Johnston, "and I'm so proud to be marrying him." Meanwhile, her fiance wrote on Facebook, "I always heard people say 'when you meet the right one, you'll know.' I never understood that until now. ... I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with her and Tripp."

Sarah is happy for the couple as well. "Our families couldn't be happier for Bristol and Dakota! We're honored to welcome Dakota into our family. He's an American hero and patriot whose service to our country," she gushed. "But even more important is he's a good and kind man who loves Bristol and Tripp, and is loved by them."

Bristol and Dakota met last year while he was filming "Amazing America" in Alaska. He proposed to her at a Rascal Flatts concert on March 13. "He's so romantic," Bristol said of her beau. The band dedicated their song "Bless the Broken Road" to the newly-engaged couple.

Sarah called it "a perfect song" for the pair. "It sums it up best: 'Every long lost dream led me to where you are... they were like Northern stars pointing me on my way into your loving arms. This much I know is true - that God blessed the broken road that led me straight to you'," she explained.
