Vanilla Ice lied to cops about owning a house he burglarized. According to police documents obtained by New York Daily News on Thursday, February 19, Vanilla told the police he owned the house and ordered his unwitting crew to take furniture from it.

Lantana Police said they began investigating after receiving a report about squatters at 109. N. Atlantic Drive back in December. During the investigation, Vanilla reportedly told the police he had bought the house nine days before. Police learned in the next day that the house was actually bank-owned and it was represented by a local realtor named James Lovely.

On January 24, James reported to police that some furniture at the house including a $1,000 sofa, twelve patio chairs, three bar stools, an iron table and glass top, two bicycles, some artwork and a $3,000 pool heater were burglarized. He then made the second report of burglary on February 8, saying a mirrored coffee table and some glass knick-knacks were stolen.

A source later told the police that Vanilla could be found at a Lake Worth pad owned by his company Van Rap Ltd. Police executed a search warrant at the place and recovered some of the stolen items including the sofa, the patio furniture, some mirrors and the pool heater. A crew member told police Vanilla told him he had purchased the burglarized house and ordered him to take stuff from it.

In a sworn statement, Vanilla told cops he thought the stolen items were trash because most of them were found on the curb outside the house. He also admitted to telling his crew that he owned the burglarized house, telling the cops that he had planned to buy it in the future.

While Vanilla denied it was part of his show "The Vanilla Ice Project" when he was released from jail earlier in the day, a photo obtained by New York Daily News showed that one of his trucks from the show was in the neigborhood of the burglarized house on Wednesday.
