'Gigi' and 'Octopussy' Actor Louis Jordan Dies at 93

The French actor, who is best known for playing musical 'Gigi' and opposite James Bond in 'Octopussy', passed away on Saturday, February 14.

AceShowbiz - Louis Jordan, the French actor who is best known for playing 1958's musical "Gigi" and opposite Roger Moore's James Bond in 1983's "Octopussy", died on Saturday, February 14. He was 93.

According to his friend and biographer Olivier Minne, Louis passed away at his home in Beverly Hills. "He was the last French figure of the Hollywood golden age. And he worked with so many of the greatest actors and directors," Olivier told Variety of Louis.

Louis was born in Marseille, France on June 19, 1921. Besides "Gigi" and "Octopussy", his big screen credits included 1947's "The Paradine Case", 1948's "Letter from an Unknown Woman", 1959's "The Best of Everything" and 1963's "The V.I.P.s". He also made some TV appearances on some series including "Count Dracula", "The First Olympics: Athens 1896" and "Beverly Hills Madam".

In July 2010, Louis received Legion d'Honneur award in Los Angeles with his friends Sidney Poitier and Kirk Douglas attending the ceremony. He has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6153 and 6445 Hollywood Boulevard.

Louis married Berthe Frederique in 1946. Berthe died in 2014. Their only child son Louis Henry Jourdan died in 1981 from a drug overdose.
