Rachel McAdams, Taylor Kitsch and Colin Farrell engaged in a gun battle on the set of "True Detective" season 2 in Los Angeles on Monday, February 9. Donning casual outfits, the three actors were seen wielding guns while filming scenes for the upcoming installment of the HBO anthology series.

At one point, McAdams who wore a grey sweatshirt, ripped jeans and sunglasses was seen taking cover behind a stack of bricks. She was also photographed having a chat with her male co-stars in between takes.

A day later on Tuesday, the Irene Adler of Guy Ritchie's "Sherlock Holmes" movie was spotted hitting the set of "True Detective" with full on police gear, complete with a bullet proof vest.

McAdams portrays Ani Bezzerides, a Ventura County sheriff's detective, while Kitsch stars as Paul Woodrugh, a war veteran and motorcycle officer for the CHP. Farrell, meanwhile, takes the role of Ray Velcoro, "a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him."

Also joining the cast are Vince Vaughn as Frank Semyon, "a career criminal in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner," and Kelly Reilly as Frank's wife, Jordan.

HBO hasn't set a premiere date for the second season of the critically acclaimed crime drama series.
