Wilson, Danson and Jean Smart land series-regular roles, while Offerman, Kieran Culkin, Jeffrey Donovan and some others are cast in recurring parts.

AceShowbiz - "Fargo" has added more notable actors to the cast line-up for its upcoming season 2. The FX series has tapped Patrick Wilson, Ted Danson and Jean Smart to take series-regular roles, while the likes of Nick Offerman and Jeffrey Donovan land recurring roles.

According to the FX casting announcement, Wilson ("Insidious", "The Conjuring") will play Lou Solverson, "a clean-cut Minnesota State Patrolman, four years back from Vietnam, where he served in the Navy." He's described as "a humble and competent man," who is a devoted husband to his wife Betsy, and father to four-year-old Molly. Lou is the younger version of the character played by Keith Carradine in the first season.

Danson ("CSI: Crime Scene Investigation") is cast as Rock County, Minn., sherriff Hank Larsson, Lou's father-in-law and a World War II veteran who embodies a certain cowboy poetry. Smart will play Floyd Gerhardt, "the matriarch of the Gerhardt crime family" who has "stood by her husband's side for 40 years, but now that he's out of the picture she thinks it's her turn to run things."

Offerman ("Parks and Recreation") will portray Karl Weathers, the town lawyer of Luverne, Minnesota. A Korean War vet, Karl is a flowery drunk blessed with the gift of gab and the eloquence of a true con artist.

Three-time Emmy winner Brad Garrett ("Everybody Loves Raymond") will play Joe Bulo, "the front man for the northern expansion of a Kansas City crime syndicate. The new face of corporate crime, Joe's bringing a Walmart mentality to small town America. His number two is Mike Milligan (Bokeem Woodbine - "Southland"). Part enforcer, part detective, Mike is always smiling - but the joke is usually on you. Bulo and his crew have their sights set on the Gerhardt crime family in Fargo."

Donovan ("Burn Notice") is cast as Dodd Gerhardt, the eldest son of the crime family. "An impatient hothead with a cruel streak to match his ambitions, Dodd can't wait for both his parents to die so he can take over and expand their business from kingdom to empire."

Angus Sampson ("Insidious") will star as Bear Gerhardt, the middle son, "an intimidatingly large man who, although inarticulate, is the most decent of his clan." Kieran Culkin ("Scott Pilgrim vs. the World") is cast as Rye Gerhardt, the youngest of the Gerhardt clan who "views himself as a big shot, but in reality he's just a small dog who barks big."

These are the people whom Lou will encounter when he investigates a case involving a local crime gang and a major Mob syndicate.

The show has previously tapped Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons to play a married couple.

The 10-episode second season of the Noah Hawley-created series is set in 1979 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Luverne, Minnesota. Filming will begin January 19 in Calgary for a fall premiere.
