Director James Gunn quashes speculations that "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "The Avengers" may cross over in the near future. The director talked about the topic during a new interview with Screen Junkies, saying that the movie featuring a space adventurer, a human-like plant and a talking raccoon is separate from "The Avengers".

"We really are separate from the Avengers, and I don't think people should assume too many things about the Guardians play in all this, because we have our own galaxy to take care of. We have our own galaxy to save," he said. "Earth is the Avengers' province. Thinking that everything is going to come together in a perfect way is not necessarily the way it's going to happen."

"Avengers: Age of Ultron" is set to hit theaters on May 1. In addition to Robert Downey Jr., Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth, it stars Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch and Aaron Johnson as Quicksilver. A few days ago, a new behind-the-scene clip from the highly-anticipated flick surfaced, highlighting the Scarlet Witch.

Starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel and Dave Bautista, the next installment of "Guardians of the Galaxy" arrives in U.S. theaters on May 5, 2017.
