Oscar Isaac Closes Deal to Play Villain in 'X-Men: Apocalypse'

The 'Inside Llewyn Davis' star nabs the role of ancient mutant Apocalypse who will wreck the X-Men team.

AceShowbiz - It was just a few days ago that Idris Elba and Pedro Pascal's names were mentioned among the potential actors to play the villain in "X-Men: Apocalypse". On Monday, November 24, it was revealed that Twentieth Century Fox has closed a deal with Oscar Isaac to fill in the position.

Rumors swirled that the studio was considering three names to play Apocalypse, but Isaac reportedly had been on the lead for the past two weeks. This would be a big role for Isaac since Apocalypse is described as the first human born with the mutant-X gene and ancient in heritage, therefore has plenty of experience compared to the mutants in Professor X's team. He is very powerful and considers himself a God.

The studio is still looking for actors to portray the younger versions of Jean Grey and Cyclops. Chloe Moretz, Elle Fanning and Hailee Steinfeld are among those eyed for Grey while Ben Hardy, Charlie Rowe and Timothee Chalamet are being considered for Cyclops.

Bryan Singer is back to direct the comic book sequel, using Simon Kinberg's script. Production is to start in spring for May 27, 2016 release.
