'Lego Batman' Will Acknowledge Every Era of Batman Filmmaking
Movie

Phil Lord and Chris Miller apparently will take advantage of 'so many interpretations of Batman' for the upcoming 'Lego Movie' spin-off.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller tease what to expect from "The Lego Batman Movie". The directors of "The Lego Movie", who now get involved in the spin-off as producers, hint that the animated flick will address every version of the Caped Crusader movies.

"Rest assured that every era of Batman filmmaking will be acknowledged," Miller opens up in an interview with Empire. "There have been so many interpretations of Batman and there is so much to play with there. There are 40 versions of his origin story alone."

Lord additionally admits that they handle the Lego Movie franchise like Marvel did with "The Avengers". He explains, "It's like we started with 'The Avengers' and now we're going to spin off and explore the different worlds, then come back."

Miller adds, "The thing is about these movies is that each of them have their own tone and their own voice. We're doing this 'Ninjago' one with Charlie Bean, we're working on the Batman one, and each one of them feels like its own movie, but obviously they all exist in the universe that the Lego movie existed in, and so finding that balance has been part of the trick."

"Lego Batman" is set for 2017 release. Will Arnett voiced the lego Dark Knight in the original movie, and is expected to reprise his role for the solo flick which will be preceded by "Ninjago" in 2016 before "The Lego Movie 2" is coming in 2018. Lord and Miller step down from the helming duty in the second "Lego Movie", but they will help with the script.
