Bono has opened up about the incident he and his U2 bandmates had when they were traveling to Germany earlier this week. The Irish rockers were flying in a private plane from Dublin to Berlin to attend the 2014 Bambi Awards when the rear door of the aircraft fell off at about 15,000 feet above the German countryside.

While walking on the red carpet of Bambi Awards on Thursday night, November 13, Bono said he's relieved that none of those in the plane was hurt. However, he worried about animals which might have sore heads due to the door that fell along with two suitcases.

"The worry is where is the door, where are those bags?" he told reporters at the event. "You know there may be a few cows or sheep in the German countryside with a very sore head. We trust that nobody was hurt because we would have heard by now and that was actually our first concern, cause we were fine."

Bono and his four mates were aboard the Learjet 60 on Wednesday when the mishap occurred. He said there was a "kind of bang" 25 minutes before the plane reached the Berlin airport.

"We thought we'd hit turbulence - maybe the wheel landing gear was coming down or something - but it was 25 minutes," the musician recalled. "The real relief was that the particular design meant that the plane did not decompress."

The plane landed safely. Officials at the German Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accidents Investigation are currently investigating the cause of the incident.
