FOX previously shortened the struggling series to 15 episodes but has decided to give it an even fuller season.

"The Mindy Project" will be staying longer on FOX after all. The comedy, created by Mindy Kaling, has been given additional six episodes order in the third season.

The current season originally only had 15 episodes while the two previous seasons had 24 and 22 episodes each. The series struggled in its ratings during the third season run but managed to remain stable when DVR playback is factored in. The show is averaging 3.1 million viewers this year.

The second half of season three has been given a shot of freshness with the appearance of Rhea Perlman, Niecy Nash, Rob McElhenney and Allison Tolman. But another big guest star is coming ahead. E! News reported that Lee Pace would pop up as the former college nerd-current tech-millionaire who took Mindy's virginity.

Speaking of the overall season, Kaling said, "We just pitched it to the network that we're going to be going somewhere after Christmas, and there's a really great roster of people that she meets there. I like those episodes of like 'Lost' where the character goes to a new place, or like 'The Walking Dead', where we meet like six new weirdoes. And you kind of fall in love with them."

"The Mindy Project" airs every Tuesday at 9.30 P.M. on FOX.
