Many people have been talking about Renee Zellweger following her recent appearance at ELLE's Women in Hollywood Celebration, saying that the "Chicago" actress looked different at the Monday night, October 20 event. Zellweger now has commented on the buzz.
"I'm glad folks think I look different! I'm living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I'm thrilled that perhaps it shows," she told PEOPLE on Tuesday. "People don't know me in my 40s," she added. "People don't know me [as] healthy for a while. Perhaps I look different. Who doesn't as they get older?! Ha. But I am different. I'm happy."
More relaxing activities and happy relationship with her boyfriend Doyle Bramhall apparently contributed to her new look. "My friends say that I look peaceful. I am healthy," she said. "For a long time I wasn't doing such a good job with that. I took on a schedule that is not realistically sustainable and didn't allow for taking care of myself. Rather than stopping to recalibrate, I kept running until I was depleted and made bad choices about how to conceal the exhaustion. I was aware of the chaos and finally chose different things."
Although she feels that having conversation regarding her look is "silly," the "Bridget Jones' Diary" star decides to address the buzz because "it seems the folks who come digging around for some nefarious truth which doesn't exist won't get off my porch until I answer the door."
Prior to walking the red carpet, the 42-year-old actress was seen joining Reese Witherspoon, Emmy Rossum and more at ALS Walk in Los Angeles. She showed up to support her friend and publicist Nanci Ryder who was diagnosed with the disease earlier this year.
