AceShowbiz - A number of A-list musicians join forces to help promote the launch of BBC Music by covering a classic of The Beach Boys. Lorde, Pharrell Williams, One Direction, Dave Grohl and Beach Boys' own Brian Wilson are among stars collaborating for a new version of 1966's "God Only Knows" that arrives along with its accompanying music video.
Other famous faces contributing to the song and appearing in the visuals include Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Kylie Minogue, Jamie Cullum, Emeli Sande, Paloma Faith and Chris Martin. Each artist sings a line of the track that appears on Beach Boys' "Pet Sounds" album. They're backed by the Tees Valley Youth Choir and the BBC Concert Orchestra.
The star-studded version of "God Only Knows" was broadcast simultaneously across all of the BBC's television, radio and online networks on Tuesday, October 7. It will also be released on iTunes with proceeds from sales going to BBC's Children in Need foundation.
"All of the artists did such a beautiful job I can't thank them enough," Wilson has said of working with the stars. "I'm just honored that 'God Only Knows' was chosen. 'God Only Knows' is a very special song. An extremely spiritual song and one of the best I've ever written."
