"The Simpsons" took over the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles for its 25th anniversary celebration on Friday night, September 12. During the show dubbed "The Simpsons Take the Bowl", stars like Conan O'Brien and Weird Al Yankovic made live musical performances.
The "CONAN" host, who was a writer on the animated series, sang "The Monorail Song" from his 1993 episode "Marge vs. the Monorail". He donned a red suit, a replica of the outfit that Lyle Lanley (originally voiced by the late Phil Hartman) wore in the episode, and dedicated the song to Hartman.
Yankovic, meanwhile, performed "Homer and Marge", his parody version of John Mellencamp's "Jack and Diane" which aired in a 2003 episode. It's a song about the Springfield family set to the tune of Mellencamp's hit.
Hank Azaria, who voices numerous characters on the show, hosted the event and sang Apu's tune "Who Need the Kwik-E Mart?" from the episode "Homer and Apu". Series creator Matt Groening also showed up to talk about the show's origins and share behind-the-scenes stories.
