Movie

While Orlando Bloom hopes to return for "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales", his on-screen love interest Keira Knightley says the opposite. During a visit to Toronto International Film Festival to promote "The Imitation Game", she said "the ship has sailed" for her to join the fifth "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie.

Knightley played Elizabeth Swann and Bloom portrayed Will Turner Jr. in the first three installments of the Captain Jack Sparrow saga. The two characters were not brought back for the fourth entry "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" in 2011 as Sparrow was given a love interest named Angelica (Penelope Cruz).

After several delays, "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" is scheduled for July 7, 2017 release. "Kon-Tiki" helmers Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg serve behind the lens, Jerry Bruckheimer is back as a producer, Jeff Nathanson ("Men in Black 3") writes the script, and Johnny Depp returns to play the main pirate. Disney has just got a $20.2 million incentives package from Australian government to bring the production Down Under.

Bloom previously said of his possible return to the franchise, "There have certainly been some discussions about it and I'm open to it. That whole experience working with Johnny and (director) Gore (Verbinski) was really amazing for me. I had a great time working with Johnny, one of the reasons I jumped at the opportunity was because Johnny was involved. I was such a massive fan of Johnny Depp growing up so to get up close and personal to Johnny and see how he worked as an actor was just a massive gift."
