WB and DC Hire Two Scribes to Pen Separate 'Aquaman' Scripts

The studios are pitting Kurt Johnstad against Will Beall to pen their own version of the Justice League member.

AceShowbiz - Warner Bros. and DC have found two scribes who will compete to land the perfect script for their "Aquaman" project. The studios have ordered "300: Rise of an Empire" writer Kurt Johnstad to write one script and "Gangster Squad" writer Will Beall to write another.

Johnstad and Beall will not be working together for the "Aquaman" pic and the studios will not commit to any of the drafts yet at first. The best version that comes out of the two will eventually be selected.

The strategy is picked because WB had set nine untitled DC movies between 2016 and 2020 last week but has not announced specific release dates yet. It allows the studio to decide when to slot the film and to give the project a big push at the same time.

Jason Momoa has been cast as Aquaman although WB has not made it official. The character is due to get an introduction in the upcoming "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice".

Aquaman is arguably one of the most difficult characters to get a movie. For years, he had been at the expense of a joke for being too simple. All the founding member of Justice League could do is talking to marine animals.
