The 'We Bought a Zoo' helmer is reportedly teaming up with J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot to develop a new ensemble comedy dubbed 'Roadies'.

Cameron Crowe is spreading his wings to the small screen. The film director/producer/screenwriter and J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot are working on a comedy pilot for Showtime, so Nikki Finke reports on her newly-launched website.
The project tentatively called "Roadies" is created by the DGA Award-nominated director and will be run by Winnie Holzman. It's described as an ensemble comedy which is set during a U.S. rock tour. Crowe is also set to direct the pilot.
The comedy pilot will mark Crowe's first foray into television. The "Vanilla Sky" helmer, who recevied Academy Award nominations for best screenplay for his work on "Jerry Maguire" (1996) and "Almost Famous" (2000), has filmed a new romantic comedy starring A-list actors including Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, Rachel McAdams, Alec Baldwin, Bill Murray and many others. The untitled movie, which was previously known as "Deep Tiki", is slated to hit U.S. theaters on December 25.
