According to a statement from Mexico's Secretary of Health, the Nobel Prize winner is treated for infections in his lungs and his urinary tract as well as dehydration.

"The patient has responded to treatment. Once he's completed his course of antibiotics his discharge from the hospital will be evaluated," the statement read. As reported by The Guardian, the author's son additionally talked about his father's health, saying, "He went to a normal room. He was never in the emergency room." Marquez is expected to be released early next week.

Mexican President Enrique Pena took to Twitter to wish the 87-year-old author speedy recovery. Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos similarly said, "All of Colombia wishes a speedy recovery to the greatest of all time: Gabriel Garcia Marquez."
