Skrillex Drops Surprise Album 'Recess' via Smartphone App

Last week, Skrillex announced his "Mothership Tour" and released a free video game app called "Alien Ride" for iPhone and Android users. Fans who downloaded the game found out on Monday, February 10 that the app actually contained 11 tracks off the EDM producer's debut studio album, "Recess".

Starting at 06:30 P.M., the app began unlocking songs with a new one arriving every 30 minutes. The full album is currently streaming on iTunes and will be officially released on March 18 via OWSLA/Big Beat/Atlantic.

"Recess" features Skrillex's collaborations with Diplo, Alvin Risk, Kill the Noise, Chance the Rapper and K-Pop stars G-Dragon and CL among others. "Strangers", which appears in "Divergent" soundtrack, also makes it to the record.

Later this month, Skrillex will perform at SXSW in Austin, Texas and at Ultra Music Festival in Miami, Florida. He'll also play at Coachella in April before kicking off his tour in Oklahoma on May 23. On the tour, he'll be joined by Dillon Francis, DJ Snakeas, Australia's What So Not and duo Milo & Otis.
