"The Expendables 3" officially started filming in Bulgaria on Monday, August 19. Through a press release, Lionsgate and Millennium Films also announce the synopsis as well as full list of actors featured in the highly-anticipated movie, which has "Red Hill" helmer Patrick Hughes attached to serve behind the lens.

In the story, Mel Gibson is introduced as the film's bad guy Conrad Stonebanks, who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Sylvester Stallone's Barney, but now is a ruthless arms trader. Forced to kill his old pal, Barney "brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy."

Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews and Arnold Schwarzenegger are back to reprise their roles. New members include Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Kellan Lutz and Harrison Ford.

Nicolas Cage, Jackie Chan and Milla Jovovich apparently are not mentioned in the release despite reports suggesting they would make it to the cast list. Bruce Willis will not return after his alleged $4 million fee demand got rejected by the production team.

"GREEDY AND LAZY ...... A SURE FORMULA FOR CAREER FAILURE," Stallone tweeted, announcing Willis' exit earlier this month.

Co-written by Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt, "The Expendables 3" is due out August 15, 2014 in the U.S.
