Wale Lands First No. 1 Album on Billboard Hot 200 With 'The Gifted'

The Washington D.C. rapper's latest album kicks Kanye West's 'Yeezus' from Billboard 200 chart's top spot after selling 158,000 copies in its first week.

AceShowbiz - Wale's latest album, "The Gifted", has debuted at No.1 on Billboard 200 chart. According to Nielsen Soundscan, the 28-year-old rapper's latest album sold 158,000 copies in its first week. It marks his first album to top the chart as his other top 10 album, 2011's "Ambition", debuted and peaked at No. 2 despite selling 164,000 copies.

Holding its position at the chart's No. 2, J. Cole's "Born Sinner" dropped 72 percent in its second week with 84,000. Meanwhile, last week's No. 1, Kanye West's "Yeezus", rounds out the chart's top three with 65,000.

Skillet's "Rise" bows at No. 4 with 60,000 copies. The Christian rock band's eighth studio album is followed by Daft Punk's "Random Access Memories" and Florida Georgia Line's "Here's to the Good Times", which are placed fifth and sixth, respectively.

Debuting at No. 7 is R&B singer/songwriter India.Arie. With 31,000 copies sold, "SongVersation" marks her fifth top 10 album on the chart. Her previous release, 2009's "Testimony: Vol. 2, Love & Politics", reached No. 3 with 75,000.

Last week's tenth placer, Imagine Dragons' "Night Visions", has made its way to this week's No. 8 after selling 29,000. At No. 9, August Burns Red scores their first top 10 album on the chart with "Rescue & Restore". Selling 26,000 in its first week, the band's latest album charts higher than its predecessor, 2011's "Leveler", which debuted and peaked at No. 11 with 29,000.

Plunging from last week's No. 5 to this week's No. 10 is Black Sabbath's "13". Debuting and peaking at the chart's No. 1, the album dropped 44 percent in sales, selling 25,000.
